"Are You Ready for some Football?!?!?!?" - insert Hank Williams Jr.

Wasn't it Hank Jr.?
Oh, well.
Anyway, the Lynn Haven Raiders Mighty Mite Football Team had their Jamboree yesterday.
And I missed it!
Why?
Because we have now entered the realm of two kids in sports that are happening at EXACTLY the same time!!!
I was with this one.
He loves soccer.
I don't have the heart to tell him there is no practice this Monday and Wednesday.
Here is Dat Dat getting him set up for the shot.

Notice how Dat Dat can focus on football and soccer at the same time!

Dat Dat took the camera to football, so I did not get any game shots, but it was fun and luckily not nearly as hot as last week... I thought the kids and Coach Todd were all gonna melt out there.
Grady loves being on the field but he had not found his inner aggressiveness yet.
We will have to put Grant on that task!
Here are Dat Dat and Todd  warming up for the Jamboree.

How Handsome!!!

Honestly, I think he missed this one, but he made it look good!

We always have to get in the obligatory Heisman shot.

Here are Dat Dat and his little helper getting Todd set up for the shot!

Grant had to get in the shot too!

Lookin' Good!

Todd and Dat Dat arrived at the game.
Apparently Todd Jr was a little nervous... but luckily there were no protein spills!

I know it is kinda hard to see, but he is the one in the black forearm pads.

#75 coming off the field.

So, this season, Todd is on first team offense and defense and even second team offense... I think that is right!  Finally, this means some actual playing time!!!!!
Apparently, the Jamboree was pretty exciting and their second "game" was pretty intense and on the verge of a riot when one of the players got hit from behind well after the whistle... the coaches son.  The situation even ended with the President of the league on the field.  Dat Dat indicated though that not much seemed to be done about it... he called it "Thug Football"... all I can think of is that Miami player swinging his helmet!
Here is a little action from the game... remember, Todd is #75 in the black forearm pads!

Again, football season is upon us... time to watch the Lions... who won their preseason last night... let's see if they can make it happen in the regular season.
And the Broncos....oooo... they are on tonight.... Go Tim Tebow!!!!!!!!!
And get ready to get your Gator Chomp On!!!!!
Alright now, who has the boiled peanuts?

Hidden Talents

In my short (insert laughter from my husband) life, I have been fortunate enough to travel to many beautiful places and see some amazing works of art.
The Last Supper (Leonardo Da Vinci)
The ceiling in the Sistine Chapel (Michael Angelo)

Mona Lisa
(which I gotta be honest, is not that exciting when you are standing in front it... smaller than you would think and protected behind thick panes of glass)

However, I always think that self portraits are really interesting...

Van Gogh... nice ear.

Monet

Da Vinci
or was it really this...
We will leave that speculative debate for another time.
And someday I want to go to the Dali Museum... this guy had serious issues!
I wonder if he was always hot... is that why everything in his paintings was melting?
But every once in a while, an artist comes along whose work can make your mind and heart soar.
And whose self portrait makes me smile every time I look at it.

I love the red tuft of hair and he even got the dimples right.
You are smiling now... aren't you?

Lunch with Friends!

This last Sunday, I was actually off work.
And, after running 12 miles... yes 12, we headed to Church.
Even though it was overcast, we decided to head to the beach.
However, we were hungry, and decided to get a bite to eat before we made our way there.

Now, when you go to a restaurant here in PC you never know who you might encounter.
If you are looking for a Cheeseburger in Paradise at...
there is always a chance you might get to see the owner...
and he might even serenade you....

But no... we were not headed to that end of the beach so...
and the Whopper was the burger of choice...

Now, who in the world might we have see at BURGER KING?

Much to Dat Dat's delight, thank the Lord, not the King.

Not the Mayor.

Not the Governor.

But this Guy!
No, I am not kidding.

We were sitting inside Burger King on Thomas Drive in Panama City Beach which is located directly across the street from the entrance of  the Navy Base.
While we were sitting enjoying our lovely Fat Burger one of the employees came over to peer out  the window near our table and said...
"He must be on his way back."
Obviously implying President Obama, who was performing a much appreciated publicity stunt by vacationing on Panama City Beach with his family to prove that there was no oil here... funny thing was they swam in the bay.. not in the Gulf.
So, here we are thinking we are going to get a glimpse of the motorcade.
I made Dat Dat go out to the car to get the camera.
I am not an Obama fan, but it is not everyday you get to see the President.
After a couple of minutes and lots of commotion, I walk out side and look across the parking lot and this is what I see...

Apparently, the Obama's have a sweet tooth.
They were standing about several feet away from us buying ice cream at Brewster's.

The secret service were very nice, if not a little bit intimidating...
Dat Dat and I even got "wanded."
Just after their purchase, they got back into their armoured vehicles and drove on to the Navy Base where they PROMPTLY loaded onto helicopters and flew to Tyndall... and headed home.

See, you never know who you will see when you go out to lunch here in Panama City.

Only Child!

At this very moment there is something very odd happening in our home!
There is no rough-housing.
No fighting.
No arguing over which movie to watch.
No debate about which playground to go to.
No 20 questions about when we will go to the beach.
No biting.
No hitting.
No begging for another snack.
No complaining.

What is there?

Silence.

Yes, today is the first day of school for Todd and Grady.
Aren't they handsome?!?!
You could tell that Todd Jr was a little nervous, but excited.
And Dat Dat and I both thought Grady was going to burst a dimple... he was so excited and ready to go this morning... he just could not stop smiling!

What a good looking Pre-K-er!

Being the first day of school and the fact that there are two schools involved, it was a team effort this morning.
First, Grant and I took Todd Jr to North Bay Haven.

Grant really wanted to get in on the action this morning.
He even had to take his own Monkey Backpack as well.
And when we got to Todd's School... Grant put his backpack where it belonged also.

Right next to Todd's UF bag!
So sweet!

After Todd was squared away, we met Dat Dat and Grady at Hiland Park.

See, still smiling!
He gave his teachers a hug when he got there and settled right in.
Drama Free!
Except that Mommy was not 100% sure she wanted to leave.
But he was perfectly fine.

Ok, so I will be honest, I did walk by his class again, and thankfully, I heard no screaming!

And now, there is only one boy at home!

Oh, and by the way, that silence I mentioned, I guess I spoke to soon...
Grant is, at this moment, "flying" around the house, pretending to be Superman...
and begging for more toast!

Don't you just love Disney Movies?

Who doesn't?
Okay well maybe Wall-E was a HUGE disappointment,
and this....
has been on a continuous loop on our DVD player for over a week...
and I am ready to strangle more than the flamingos with a yo-yo!
But in general, the residents of our home LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Disney movies.

However, today as I was cleaning out our email, I came across a funny message from my sister.
As we all know, life is not really a fairy tale...
and, from the looks of the following photos... the Disney ones aren't real either!

Ahh, Cinderella...

We all thought she and Prince Charming would last forever....

I guess the Fairy Godmother cannot make all your dreams come true!

Sweet Jasmine....

I don't think she understood when Aladdin said he wanted to show her...

"A Whole New World..."
She might have been better of with Jafar!

Belle... my absolute favorite!!!!!!!
What a Beauty!!!!

I guess there is always a price to pay to stay looking young and beautiful for your man....
what a BEAST!!!!!

And finally, the red-headed fish!
Ariel, The Little Mermaid!
Dat Dat's favorite!

I guess Prince Eric decided to throw her back!

I love sushi!
(Sorry, honey!)

The Eagles

No, not these Eagles!
Though, who doesn't love "Hotel California?"
I did see Don Henley once in concert.... awesome!

I am talking about one very special Eagle...
Don't you just want to squeeze him!
Grady had his first soccer game Saturday!
Look at the concentration!
He had such a good time!
Here he is performing a corner kick!
In the U6 league, the coach is allowed to be on the field with them.
It was so funny watching him, the coach, trying to herd all the kids in the right directions.
By the way, the coach is a SEROUS HOTTIE!
It's okay, I can say that...
 I know I am married...
 To the coach!
But it was also seriously HOT!!!!
Todd kept dripping sweat from the bill of his hat on the kids!!!!
YUCK!
Here they are all in the net, just about the only way you can control them!
I am only kidding, they were so good, even though the temp already had to be in the mid 90's at 8:30am.
